Customer Reviews. I bought this DVD drive for my new computer build. I didn't want Blu-Ray; I just needed a basic DVD drive to install software and make the occasional backup. This drive has SATA power and data, it's from Sony, and it's your basic DVD +/- RW drive. It works very well, no problems. Best feature for me: the fact that it has no white branding on the drawer front. It's perfectly black and unobtrusive (yes, there is some molded branding, but no huge white lettering as with other DVD drives in this price range). It suits my needs perfectly. It also has a large rectangular eject button, which I personally like better than a small round button. Being a bare-bones drive, be aware that it comes with NOTHING else but the drive. No cables, no software, no screws include. You will need to supply your own SATA cables (power from your computer's PSU and data) and screws, if your case needs them. The drive doesn't need any drivers or software to work--Windows takes care of that automatically. (I am using Windows 7 Pro 64-bit). The drive I received came in a small box with foam buffers at each end and the drive suspended in the middle, then packed within a larger box with air cushioning for shipping. It arrived in perfect condition. Overall, I'm giving this drive 5-stars because it just does what it's supposed to do, nothing more nothing less, with kudos to Sony for using no obtrusive branding.

Lite-On Super AllWrite 24X SATA DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Drive - Bulk - IHAS124-04 Version C (Black)

i bought this because it's honestly the cheapest DVD-RW drive i could find. I noticed when buying it that a computer i bought 3 years ago came with the same drive. The new one is working just fine and the older one has had no issues. In my opinion great buy! they seem to last, and are very cheap.

I built a new computer and was no longer able to reuse the old IDE DVD RW I had. I bought Lite-On Super AllWrite, and have been very happy with it. I have been getting cleaner writes than my old IDE drive. So far I haven't had one bad write. I found that I was also able to write at higher speeds without errors on the disk.

Asus 24xDVD-RW Serial ATA Internal OEM Drive DRW-24B1ST (Black)

I use to have in order: LG GSA-4163(exellent), Sansung 223Q (very good) LG GH22NS50( good but my old Pioneer dvd-414 doesn't recognize any movie recorded on this model)and then Samsung SH-S223L( t didn't work on XP so for me is garvage) An then This Asus DRW-24B1st which has recorded like 30 times without damaging a disc and my Pioneer DV-414 plays it perfectly ( I know that my DV-414 is old but what is equal is not advantage, that means the asus and the samsung 223Q makes a better optical impression. It also rips fast so is not necessary to aply speed paches. Trust me,,buy this burner...I am like a frustrated consumer reports guy :P L O V E I T

Hands down this has to be the best DVD burner on the market. It works great alone without any software, but it works even better with the included disc. You get a free copy of Nero 10 to use so you can burn data, music, make DVD's etc. You also get a cool program called "e-hammer" which erases and corrupts discs so they cant be used or ever accessed again. What's also nice is it works with both DVD minus and plus R's and RW's. In the past DVD burners I owned worked with one or the other type of DVD's. The drive is extremely quiet, uses very little electricity, and only cost me $20! How can I complain? I truly do recommend this DVD burner to anyone.
